PyMOL is a 3D molecular visualization and analysis software most used for producing high-quality renderings of biological macromolecules, such as proteins, DNA, or RNA, for use in presentations, publications, and on the web. The selection and visualization capabilities make it easy to showcase different views and aspects of the molecule. PyMOL was developed as open-source software and has a very active user community. The company Schr?dinger Inc. now maintains and distributes the software.
This hands-on tutorial will provide you with basic skills in the visualization of biomolecules and the creation of publication-quality graphics. You will learn how to quickly access, display, and analyze molecules, get some basic scripting knowledge to automate your work, and make a short movie.

? How to create publication-quality 3D images of proteins for presentations, print, or web ? How to access and search the Protein Data Bank ? An overview of many features of PyMOL explained with examples ? An introduction to PyMOL’s command line and scripting capabilities ? How to make a movie showcasing your molecule

Voraussetzung/ Requirements Please install PyMOL on your device and obtain a license before the course. The software is available for download at the PyMOL website (https://www.pymol.org/); a free license for students is available from the ETH IT Shop (https://itshop.ethz.ch) with your ETH credentials.
