However, Future Day at ETH Zurich was not just about technology and research, but above all about a change of perspective: children were able to learn about professions that are traditionally attributed to the opposite gender – and discover new interests and talents in the process. The enthusiasm was palpable everywhere, whether programming robots, experimenting in the laboratory, or designing their own architectural models. The children asked lots of curious questions, bravely tried things out, and learned how varied and creative the work at ETH is.
Basel location takes part for the first time
A special highlight this year was that programmes were also held at the ETH Basel location for the first time. There, 25 children had the opportunity to immerse themselves in scientific fields of work and take a look behind the scenes of research. This further expanded the range of activities on offer on Future Day and made it more accessible for children from the Basel region.
A successful day for everyone involved
The day ended with lots of smiling faces and exciting conversations. For the children, it was a day full of inspiration – and for all of us, a wonderful reminder of how important it is to encourage curious questions and give young people access to science and technology.
