Mental Health Awareness Days (MHAD) bring staff and students together to learn from each other, share experiences and raise awareness of mental health and well-being.
A platform for greater awareness
When we talk about awareness, we mean two things: on the one hand, addressing the topic of mental health itself – what stresses are there, how do I recognise warning signs, what role do mindfulness and self-care play? On the other hand, knowledge about the support services available at ETH Zurich. From counselling and coaching services to peer support and specific programmes for students or staff: help is available, but people need to know about it.
The MHAD provides a platform for this. It imparts knowledge, gives practical tips and breaks down barriers. Lectures and panel discussions shed light on the topic from different perspectives, while information stands offer specific information and enable direct exchange with experts.
Highlights from the programme
Presentation by Barbara Studer
In her presentation ‘Mental Strength through Neurobalance – Where Science Meets Everyday Life’, neuroscientist Barbara Studer shows how scientific findings on mental strength and balance can be applied to everyday life.
Panel discussion: When should I seek help – and how?
Former professional footballer Francisco Rodríguez and other well-known personalities from Switzerland talk openly about dealing with mental stress. The discussion will be moderated by the editor-in-chief of ‘ZEIT 365体育官网_365体育备用【手机在线】’.
Film evening and poetry slam
A screening of the award-winning music film ‘Whiplash’ followed by a discussion and the poetry slam ‘Mind Matters’ invite you to experience mental health in a creative and emotional way.
Information stands and exchange
At various locations, internal and external specialist departments will provide information about their services (e.g. Psychological Counseling Services or SGU Occupational Health). Here, questions can be asked and initial contacts made – in an uncomplicated and personal manner.

The Mental Health Awareness Days will take place on 8, 9, 22 and 23 October at various locations at ETH Zurich. The full programme with all events, information and registration options can be found on the programme website.
Taking responsibility together
The Mental Health Awareness Days are a step towards firmly anchoring mental health in our everyday university life. They invite us not only to take better care of ourselves, but also to be there for each other. Because mental health is a shared responsibility – and its value is particularly evident when we listen to each other, support each other and find new ways forward together.
